Lemon Skin Benefits
In order to understand the importance of lemon in the skin, it is important to understand the role of free radicals within the skin. Free radicals are cells which can potentially prove harmful to the skin and can be found within the cells in the inner layers of the skin, creating changes in the appearance of the skin that can lead to the appearance of premature aging in the effects of the skin, including fine lines, inflammation and even sagging throughout the skin.
Free radicals can lead to the development of fine lines and wrinkles throughout the skin and can be reduced through ingesting lemons or lemon juice on a regular basis. When lemon juice or lemon wedges are combined with water, the skin can receive the benefits of the lemons, as they are filled with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants and the water is able to reduce the toxins, as they can be easily flushed from the body.
Lemon, especially water with lemon can have many positive effects on the body and allow an individual to reduce the toxins that can contribute to oily or imbalanced skin, or breakouts. Using lemons in the eight glasses of water that are recommended each day can be a way to improve the appearance of the skin, as well as increase the moisture within the skin to create balanced appearing skin is an effective way to ensure healthy appearing skin.
Lemon can also be found in a variety of natural skin care treatments that are available through salons, as well as those that can be made at home. Small amounts of lemon are combined with other ingredients that are used to clarify the skin and can leave the skin with a youthful glow, as well as an improved complexion only minutes after the concoction has been applied to and rinsed from the skin.
Here is an example of a lemon skin care mask that can be made at home and has the ability to clarify the skin as well as create exfoliating properties throughout the skin:
Combine two tablespoons of flour, with one teaspoon of lemon and combine this with two tablespoons of plain yogurt which will be applied to the skin once all ingredients have been mixed. This mask should be applied evenly to the entire face and should be left on the face for at least fifteen minutes – at which point the mask should be removed with warm water and rinsed entirely from the face.
